When the invasion of France was being planned it was realised that specialised armoured vehicles would be needed. They were to be collected together in a special armoured division, the 79th, under the command of Brigadier Percy Hobart.
One of these 'Funnies' as they became known, was the fearsome Churchill Crocodile. This heavily armoured flamethrowing tank struck immediate fear into the Germans.
