The Centurion appeared in the closing weeks of WW2 as the British Armies first Main Battle Tank replacing both the cruiser and infantry tank designs which had present throughout the war. Serving successfully through the Korean war and the Cold war it was progressively updated throughout the 1950's and early 1960's untiI being replaced by the Chieftain. It was to be arguably the most successful British tank design being exported to many countries including Israel and South Africa.
