Sd Kfz 251/1 Ausf B

These lightly armoured vehicles were meant to enable Panzergrendiers to accompany the tanks and provide infantry support as required. In practice, there were never enough of them to go around. Only 350 vehicles of this early war variant had been delivered in time for the French campaign of 1940. There were many variations of this basic infantry carrier built including engineering vehicles and self propelled guns.
