The Nashorn or Hornisse was another one of the stop gap weapons the German Army rushed into service. It was based on the chassis of the Hummel SP gun and armed with the fearsome Pak 43 88mm .

The guns were formed into independent Panzerjager units and were employed on the Eastern and Western fronts as well as Italy. 494 were produced in total.
